Hello, Runners!
The Makassar Half Marathon is a mass road running event in Makassar City, presented with a new concept since 2022. This race is also designed to meet national standards and aims to become a key sports destination in Eastern Indonesia. Over the years, it has become a top choice for runners from across Indonesia, including South Sulawesi and surrounding regions.
The event is initiated by the Makassar City Youth and Sports Office (Dispora) and organized by a leading race and event organizer, responsible for directing the race and managing the race pack collection and supporting activities. The race is supported by various elements of the Regional Government, including the Police, TNI, and PASI (Indonesian Athletics Association), as well as the Makassar community. This collaborative support demonstrates a positive contribution to the world of sports and tourism.
This year, the event is set to accommodate 10,000 participants, both domestic and international, to meet the growing interest. To ensure the race’s quality, the course has been certified by PASI since last year. As in previous years, the race venue will be located at Anjungan Pantai Losari, with routes passing through the city’s main roads and tourist attractions.
The event offers the following race categories:
- Half Marathon (21K): Open, National, and Master Classes.
- 10K: National and Master Classes.
- 5K: National and Student Classes.
- The Master Class includes two age groups, 40+ and 50+, to further recognize and appreciate runners. All Master participants will be classified under the National category for all distances.
In addition to being a competitive running event, the Makassar Half Marathon also serves as a platform to promote and support local MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises). Their involvement is expected to highlight the economic benefits and positive impact of the event. The venue at Anjungan Pantai Losari, a favorite tourist destination in Makassar, will also benefit from the influx of thousands of runners from various regions in Indonesia.
The Race Pack Collection (RPC) will take place from May 29 to May 31, 2025, featuring entertainment such as live music to enhance the experience. The main event, Makassar Half Marathon, will span two days, Saturday and Sunday, May 31 – June 1, 2025.
