Hello, Runners!
Makassar Half Marathon (MHM) is back for all runners. The tagline for 2026 is “Makassar Run for All,” which aims to make this sporting event a grand, massive, and memorable competition, targeting 12,000 runners from various regions, both domestic and international. This year, the race categories will consist of only the Half Marathon (HM),10K and Kid Dash, considering the high interest in longer distances. MHM runners are expected to be more seasoned now, following three previous editions of the event. They are anticipated to participate and contribute even more significantly to this event.
As part of the effort to develop young athletes, MHM 2026 will also introduce a student category (specifically for 10K). This special student category is intended to discover potential young runners from Makassar. The champion and winner categories will again consist of Open, National, and Master classes, both for HM and 10K. For the Master category, there will be two age divisions: 40+ and 50+, to provide more recognition to experienced runners.
Registration will open on December 12, 2025, instead of the initially planned first week of December. This postponement is made as a sign of empathy for our brothers and sisters affected by natural disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. MHM is also formulating ways to provide further support to the runners in those regions.
As a national-standard mass running event, MHM has become one of the important sports destinations in Eastern Indonesia, organized by the Dinas Pemuda dan Olahraga Kota Makassar with the support of a dedicated race and event organizer that has diligently built the reputation of this competition. Technically, the race is currently optimized with a route certified by the Indonesian Athletics Association (PB PASI). The race venue will again be at the Anjungan Pantai Losari, passing through the main roads and important iconic points in the city of Makassar. The event will take place over three days, on May 29, 30 and 31, 2026, with race pack collection occurring from May 28 to 30, 2026. Throughout the event, there will be artistic and cultural performances on the main stage at Losari Beach Park.
As in the past, this event will receive positive support from stakeholders and the local community. For the tourism sector, the arrival of participants is expected to have a significant economic impact. This activity also serves as a platform to promote local MSMEs, with the hope of providing a positive impact on the local economy. This year, various impacts will be measured by a professional survey agency.
